Miami and the Bahamas 2024

I was in Miami and Miami Beach, Florida from December 22nd to 23rd, 2024, where we stayed at the Intercontinental in downtown Miami, and then on the Norwegian Pearl cruise with excursions at the Great Stirrup Cay and in Nassau, The Bahamas from December 24th to 27th, 2024. Here is how we spent the holidays.

12/22: We landed in Miami, flying in from Minneapolis, and checked into our hotel room. This was later in the evening, so we ended up having a later dinner at Pollos & Jarras. The food was decent but a bit pricey for the quantity. I ended the night by playing some games with family.

12/23: We started the day with continental breakfast at our hotel and then took pictures in Bayfront Park and around our hotel. We then headed to Little Havana, where we walked around and got to know the area; going through Domino Park, eating ice cream at Azucar Ice Cream, and having a Cuban lunch at Old’s Havana. The food here was fantastic. We then ubered to Miami Beach where we took pictures on the South Beach before heading to the Bayside Marketplace for our Bayside boat ride and tour along Biscayne Bay and the waters. We ended up at Bayside for dinner at Black Market Bayside before finishing the day with another game night.

12/24: We had continental breakfast again before checking out of the hotel that morning. We then ubered to Miami Beach and checked into the Norwegian Cruise Line for the Pearl. Having never been on a cruise this big, everything was overwhelming. We had lunch in the cruise buffet and then spent time exploring the amenities and playing games. For dinner, we had a reservation at Cagney’s Steakhouse and Winebar on the cruise, where we had a very fancy meal. Of course, ended the day with yet another game night.

12/25: Merry xmas! We began the day with a buffet breakfast on the cruise as we got to the Great Stirrup Cay for our first excursion. We took a ferry to the cay, where the “children (including me)” got to go on the Island Zipline Adventure. Some parts of the ziplining were high up, but the views were absolutely beautiful. Afterward, we swam at the beach and took photos. Then, we had lunch on the cay, complimentary from our cruise, and rested for a bit before heading back to the Pearl. Later that evening, we had dinner on the cruise at Lotus Garden, where we indulged in sushi and other Asian food. Following this, a game night.

12/26: We started with another buffet breakfast and then got off the Pearl as we have now docked at the New Providence Island of the Bahamas. For this excursion, we got to Nassau, the capital, and went on the Discover Nassau Harbor Tour on a boat. After this, we explored downtown Nassau a bit and got some souvenirs before getting back on the cruise for a complimentary lunch. We played some games and then went to Indigo on the cruise for dinner. They had good options for a 3-course meal! I then went with a family friend to the mojito bar and had a drink, before we joined the others in the hot tub on the cruise. An early bedtime was due because we had to check out early the next day.

12/27: We got up super early and had our last buffet breakfast before we packed up and checked out of the cruise. We then headed to the Miami International Airport for an early flight. That was it for this trip!
